Do you prefer to contact different people in different ways?[Why?]

Yeah, I am used to contact different people in different ways. For example, if I were to contact my friends, I would most likely to send them messages through some cellphone apps. But if I were to contact my family members, I would probably call them straightaway. Because I think different people have different preference for communication. My friends are all young people, so they are always trying to keep up with the trends. However, my parents or my grandparents are not, so I guess talking over telephone is the most convenient and suitable way for them.
