In modern society, young people prefer to stay apart from their parents and live alone in a metropolis. Further, they have a tendency of postponing their parenthood until late 30’s or even early 40’s.

Young adults adopt this very independent lifestyle in the hope of taking some advantages. In this scenario, they have more freedom which allows them to do what they find interesting and worthwhile but their parenting may not because the older generation may hold their traditional way of life or values which may be rejected by the younger one. On top of the generation gap, nuclear family favors career pursuit which requires much dedication including time, energy and concentration, thus conflicting with extended family which requires the same. To achieve the dream of success, young people have left their hometown and their family, rushing alone into major cities where more social resources can be explored and more chances of career success can be expected. （定语从句，what引导宾语从句，but并列句，原因状语从句，被动句，非谓语，where引导状语从句）

However, this modern lifestyle can have some negative effects on individuals and the society as a whole. Firstly low birthrates can result in an ageing population and a lack of labor force in the future. Medical care service will be in high demand and medical cost will rise significantly. In terms of traditional culture, respect for family and community is being impaired at the cost of personal career pursuit. Living alone without long term and stable relationships is widely thought to be associated with the lack of personal sense of happiness and the increase of sense of isolation, which would reduce an individual’s general satisfaction with life. （并列句，被动句，定语从句）

My personal view on Dink and single family is not totally optimistic. While the young couples or singles enjoy their personal space and career oriented urban lifestyle without the responsibility of raising children, they are disconnected with their families and original community and hence losing traditional values and cultures, and being assimilated by globally popular culture.
