If you are a recent social science graduate who has had to listen to jokes about unemployment from your computer major classmates, you may have had the last laugh. There are many advantages for the social science major because this high-tech "Information Age" demands people who are flexible (灵活的) and who have good communication skills.
There are many social science majors in large companies who fill important positions. For example, a number of research studies found that social science majors had achieved greater managerial success than those who had technical training or pre-professional courses. Studies show that social science majors are most suited for change, which is the leading feature (特点) of the kind of high speed, high-pressure, high-tech world we now live in.
Social science majors are not only experiencing success in their long-term company jobs, but they are also finding jobs more easily. A study showed that many companies had filled a large percentage of their entry-level positions with social science graduates. The study also showed that the most sought-after quality in a person who was looking for a job was communication skills, noted as "very important" by 92 percent of the companies. Social science majors have these skills, often without knowing how important they are. It is probably due to these skills that they have been offered a wide variety of positions.
Finally, although some social science majors may still find it more difficult than their technically trained classmates to land the first job, recent graduates report that they don' t regret their choice of study.

46. By saying that "you may have had the last laugh" in the first paragraph, the author means that you may have _______.
A. earned as much as computer majors
B. stopped joking about computer majors
C. shared the jokes with computer majors
D. found jobs more easily than computer majors
47. Compared with graduates of other subjects, social science graduates ______.
A. are likely to give others pressure
B. are equally good at computer skills
C. are better able to deal with difficulties
D. are ready to change when situations change
48. Which of the following is true about the communication skill?
A. Social science majors do not know they have had these skills.
B. Many companies prefer to employ those with good communication skills.
C. These skills have been considered very important by social science majors.
D. Computer majors have been offered a wide variety of positions because of these skills.
49. According to the text, what has made it easy for social science graduates to find jobs?
A. Part-time work experience.
B. Skills in expressing themselves.
C. Willingness to take low-paid jobs.
D. Readiness to gain high-tech knowledge.

句子结构的准确性和复杂度;信息内容的完整性和连贯性。

第二节:读写任务(共1小题,满分25分)
阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。
Let children learn to judge their own work. A child learning to talk does not learn by being corrected all the time; if corrected too much, he will stop talking. He notices a thousand times a day the difference between his language and others’ language. Bit by bit, he makes the right changes to make his language like other people’s. In the same way, children learn to do all the other things. They learn to talk, run, climb, ride a bicycle by comparing their own behaviors with those of more skilled people, and slowly make the needed changes. But in school teachers never give a child a chance to find out his mistakes for himself, even fewer chances for him to correct himself. They do it all for him. Teachers act as if the student would never notice a mistake if they did not point out it to him. They act as if the student would never correct it unless he was made to. Soon he becomes dependent on the teacher. Let the student do it himself. Let him work out, with the help of other children if he wants it, what this word means and what the answer is to that problem.

[写作内容]
1) 概括短文的内容要点,该部分的字数大约60词左右;
2) 就“学生的学习错误该不该改正”这个主题发表你的看法,至少包含以下的内容要点,该部分的字数大约90词左右;
a) 以英语学习为例,简述你学习过程中经常出现的语言错误;
b) 你是如何看待自己的语言错误;
c) 你的老师如何对待你的语言错误;

M: Hello. International Friends Club. Can I help?
W: Oh, hello. I read about your club in the paper today and I thought I’d phone to find out a bit more.
M: Yes, certainly, well we’re a sort of social club for people from different countries. It’s quite a new club—we have about 50 members at the moment, but we’re growing all the time.
W: That sounds interesting. I’m British actually, and I came to Washington about three months ago. I’m looking for ways to meet people. Er, what kinds of events do you organize?
M: Well, we have social get-togethers, and sports events, and we also have language evenings.
W: Could you tell me something about the language evenings?
M: Yes. Every day except Thursday we have a language evening. People can come and practice their languages—you know, over a drink or something. We have different languages on different evenings. Monday—Spanish; Tuesday—Italian; Wednesday—German; and Friday—French. On Thursday we usually have a meal in a restaurant for anyone who wants to come.
W: Well, that sounds great. I really need to practise my French.
M: OK. Well, if you can just give me your name and address, I’ll send you the form and some more information. If you join now you can have the first month free.

INTERVIEWER: When was that?
LISA: Oh, about 40 years ago. I worked in a small office. It had very old, heavy and noisy typewriters. The noise was terrible!
INTERVIEWER: What was the first new machine that you saw then?
LISA: Well, I got a job in a university office and they had one of the new typewriters.

JOHN: I spent the week with my grandparents in the country. They live … um … on a big farm, and they have chickens and lots of animals and fruit trees and fresh vegetables, and it’s just really, really beautiful and peaceful. When I was there, … um … the apples were in season, and we went picking. And the neighbors came, and they helped pick the apples, and we packed them, and it was so much fun. And then at the end of the day, my grandma would cook a big meal, and we would just sit around and eat and eat and talk, and everything was delicious. It was so good. And I thought I’d be bored because they don’t have a TV or anything, but I wasn’t. It was … it was a lot of fun.
But at the end of the week, I just … I don’t know, to tell you the truth, I prefer to live in the city, I – it’s noisy and it’s dirty in the city, but I … I like it better than the country. You know, the country’s OK for a visit, but … um … it’s too quiet for me!

Pandas are one of the most precious animals in the world. They live only in a small area in the mountains of South-western China.
There are only 500 – 1,000 pandas in the wild and the number is falling down all the time. There are about 100 more in zoos and research stations.
Although they are protected, pandas are still killed for their skins. Because their skins are very valuable.
Pandas live in mountain forests, and can only eat bamboo. As the place they live in is getting smaller and smaller, pandas are in danger of dying from lack of suitable food.
Zoos are making efforts to raise and produce pandas, but this is very difficult. Also, baby pandas weigh only 100 grams at birth, so they need to be looked after very carefully. Since 1963 about 50 baby pandas have been born in zoos, and around half of them are still alive today.
