This has concerned teachers and parents alike and has led to a call for information on the importance of sleep, especially with regard to studying. Let me start off by saying that sleep is vital to our well-being and health. Rarely are people getting enough sleep however. Research shows that about 40 percent of the population regularly feel tired during the day! Most people need at least 8 hours of sleep every night, and lack of sleep can seriously affect concentration and memory. It also causes irritability and lowers the immune system.
