"Exams will be the death of me," 1 can remember thinking in school. I was not a good student. Even when 1 studied hard (which was not often enough) my grades never seemed to improve. The mid-term exams are over and some of you may also be thinking, "Exams will be the death of me." You studied hard but... For middle school students in China, it's really easy to spend money. There are so many things, such as the latest brand — name(品牌) clothes, video games, expensive handbags and backpacks and on and on.
The habit of spending money is an easy one to get into, but like most habits, it's hard to break. When I was a middle school student, 1 spent lots of money on stuff that 1 thought was cool but I didn't really need. 1 had some fun. But I could have had more fun if I hadn't wasted so much money.
When something is the latest and greatest, you want it at once because it's new. And you don't want to wait till it's old. The problem is that the latest fashions usually cost a lot to follow. But once you own the stuff, it goes out of fashion very, very quickly. How many things do you have in your bedroom that you don't use that much, even though they cost quite a lot?
A good test of whether something should be bought is to have yourself wait a few weeks before buying it. You'll be amazed how many things that you are just dying to have suddenly become uninteresting. And you'11 be even more amazed how much money you can save to spend on stuff that you really like and use for a long time. You'll also find that the expensive stuff is not the coolest stuff at all and it's just the most expensive.

You can pick up rubbish that's lying on the street or pick up someone's bicycle that may have fallen over. You can also offer to baby—sit a neighbor's child...
