  The Way to Success
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree , and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”Abraham Lincoln once said. Although four hours seem to be quite a long time, it can help people chop down the tree more smoothly and less laboriously in the rest two hours. It is obvious that a full preparation can enhance the efficiency of trees-chopping.
The saying aims at informing us of the significance of adequate preparation. Definitely , we can’t emphasize the importance of full preparation too much in our pursuit of success. A full preparation enables us to achieve our objectives and realize our dreams more smoothly and rapidly. The more preparation we make, the more likely we are to become confidence, reduce the risks of failure and seize the fleeting opportunities. For example, when graduates hunt for jobs, it is those who are well prepared that can surpass other candidates and get the offer finally.
Accordingly, at no time should we overlook the power of preparation. Besides, we need to set up a proper goal, carry out a full investigation and elaborate a detailed plan before we take actions. “Preparation breeds success.” Benjamin Franklin also once said. (200 words)

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write an essay commenting on the remark “The greatest use of life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.” You can give examples to illustrate your point and then explain what you will do to make your life more meaningful. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.
As a thought-provoking saying goes, “The greatest use of life is to spend it on something that will outlast it.”we learn from the saying that, life is short and limited, to make the best use of our life we need to spend it on something which are meaningful and will last long.
Numerous examples can be found in history, just take a famous historian Chen Yinque as a case in point: he led an unfortunate and turbulent life. He even lost sight in one eye in his later years. However, he kept on compiling historical materials and compsoing works. His life was short, but he left precious and everlasting intellectual treasure for us. Example also exists in reality. Some scientists devote their whole life in the enterprise of scientific inquiry. They are not rich and their life is boring, they are little known and few people know their contribution. However, when life ends, their achievement in scientific research will constantly benefit mankind and will never be forgotten by people!
Obviously, to make full use of our life, we should do something meaningful. For my part, I would, firstly, spend my time on study, mastering necessary knoledge and skills. Moreover, I will set up lofty goals and expect to make great contribution to mankind and society. (219words)
