1.definite adj.清楚的，肯定的，明显的

【例】There is, however, a definite structural variation between the male and female brain.

【用】固定搭配definitely speaking表示“确切地说”。
【派】definitely（adv.当然，一定，硝定；[和否定词连用]绝对）；definition(n.定义；限定；清晰)
【辨】definite, definitive, definite指某事的界限或范围已确定、不含糊；definitive意为“决定性的，最终的”，如：It's his definitive answer.

2.oticeable adj.显而易见的，引人注目的

【例】The drug proved to have noticeable side effects.

3.mess n．杂乱的一团：混乱的情形 v.把…弄糟；干涉

4.optimal adj.最适宜的，最理想的

【例】An optimal decision is that all of us can take part in the campaign.

5.enable vt.使能够，使成为可能，使实现
【记】词根记忆：en(使)+able(能够)--使能够
【例】Sometimes one may come down with a serious cold, feeling depressed. But a change in attitude will enable us to look at the matter from a positive perspective. The illness may teach us the importance of health.

6.vaccinate v.给…种痘，给…注射疫苗，打预防针

7.consent vi．同意，答应：承诺
【记】词根记忆：con(其同)+sent(感觉)--有同感--同意
【例】The most common age without parents' consent is eighteen for both females and males; however, persons who are underage in their home state can get married in another state and then return to the home state legally married.
不经父母同意就能结婚的年龄通常情况是18岁，不论男女；但在当地未到结婚年龄的孩子可以到其他州去结婚，然后再回到家乡时就算正式结婚了。（1997听力）
【用】consent后一般接to，句子结构为：consent sb. to do sth.。

8.classic adj.（文学、艺术等）第一流的，最优秀的，规范的；古典（指古罗马或吉希腊文艺）的，古典派的；在文学史（历史）上著名的 n．文豪，大艺术家；杰作，名著；[pl.]经典（著作），(古罗马或古希腊的）经典著作
