1.indispensable adj.绝对需要的，不可或缺的

【辨】necessary,essendal,vital, indispensable
四个词都有“需要的”之意。nccessary指“必要的，必需的”，句武结构通常为be necessary for sb. to do sth.；essential强调“本质的，必不可少的”，如：Food is essential for life.；indispensable指“不可或缺的”，暗示没有它会有很严重的后果；vital程度最深，强调生死攸关的，如：a vital wound。

2.ambition n．志向，抱负，雄心；野心，奢望

【饲】Myambilion is to hold an important job one day.
我的目标是将来有一天拥有一份举足轻重的工作。

3.disguise n./vt.假扮，伪装，掩盖
【例】Keep your drsguise,and let no one know who you are.

【用】in disguise意思是“伪装，化装”。

4.flutter n./v.振翅，拍翼;飘动，摆动；激动，紧张，兴奋
【记】和flatter(v.奉承)一起记

【辨】fluctuate, flutter,swing, vibrate
这四个词都有“摆动”的意思。fluctuate主要指不规则的上下运动，常用于标准、价格、情绪等的波动，如：Share prices ofien fluctuate wildly.；flutter主要指“鸟、蝴蝶等拍动翅膀”；swing指（吊着或支着的）物体有节奏地来回或前后摆动，或秋千、钟摆等各种悬挂物的摆动，如：swing one’s arms；vibrate指前后或左右快速地、不断地振动，如：Her lips vibrated.

5.condemn v．谴责;定罪，判处
【记】词根记忆：con+demn(伤害；惩罚)--给予惩罚一定罪，判处
【例】New Zealand and Chile have recalled their ambassadors to Paris in protest; Australia condenued the test; and the U.S.expressed its regret.

7.hostile adj.敌方的；敌意的，不友善的
【记】词根记忆：host(敌人)+ile--敌方的;敌意的
【例】That rmwied couples became hostile when guests had left.
这对夫妇在客人走了之后变得敌对起采。

8.halt n.暂停前进，中止，停止 v.停止前进;停止，停住
【例】Ann stumbled and halted in her utterance.
安说话时结结巴巴，还时有停顿。
