1.dissatisfy vt.使不满意，使不高兴

【记】词根记忆：dis(不)+satis(足够)+母(使)一使不足够一使不满意
【例】What you did dissatisfied me very much.
你的所做所为令我很不高兴。
【用】dissatisfy后面常常接with，短语be dissatisfied with表示“对…不满”。
【派】dissatisfaction(n.不满意，不高兴)

2.scorn n.轻蔑，蔑视；轻蔑、嘲笑的对象 v．轻蔑，蔑视

【记】联想记忆：s+com(玉米)--把别人当成玉米棒子--轻蔑
【例】Tony told me that he scomed such despicable behavior.
托尼告诉我他蔑视这种卑劣的行为。

3.purchase vt.购买 n．购买；购得之物

【例】At first the company refused topurchase the equipment. but this decision was subsequently revised.
起初公司拒绝购买该设备，但是随后改变了主意。(1998)

4.principal adj.主要的，首要的九．校长

【记】词根记忆：prin(第一，主要的)+cipal--主要的
【例】The principol farm products in this region is wheat.

5.sincere adj.真实的，真诚的；直率的，不矫情的

6.specific adj.明确的，详尽的；特定的，特指的

【记l词根记忆：speci(种类)+fic一就是那个种类一特定的
【例】What are your specific aims?
你有明确的目标吗？
【辨】concrete' specific
二者都表示“具体的”，但针对性不同。concrete指以物质形式切实存在的，与abstract相对；specific指详细的具体，与general相对。

7.dull adj.不鲜明的，隐约的；钝的;愚钝的；麻木的；单调乏味的;不活跃的，呆滞的

【例】All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.只学习，不玩耍，孩子会变傻。(2000)

【用】（as）dull as ditch-water是固定搭配，意思是“非常沉闷乏味”

8.deduct vt.扣除，减去

【记】词根记忆：de(去掉)+duct(引导)一引导去掉一扣除
【例】Nowadays.income tax is normally deducred from a person's wages.
现在，个人所得税通常在工资中扣除。
【用】deduct后一般接介词from．表示“从…中扣除、减去”
【派】deduction[n.推论，演绎；扣除（额）,减去]

9.stir v.搅和,搅拌;（使）轻轻地移动，动；激起；使激动 n.搅拌，搅和；骚动，群情激动

如果医生们拿病人的健康来冒险会被定罪。
