title: 标题与头衔，权力和好处

　　Reading comprehension有著名的一问：“The best title of the passage is ____?”，是要给文章提供一个最佳的title（标题），当然是找文章的theme(主旨)。

　　所以有entitle，由en领衔，动词。

　　I am planning to write a book, and I intend to entitle it The Journey Westward.

　　我准备写一本书，打算将它命名为《西游记》。

　　A book entitled The Journey Westward will be publicized and published.

　　一本名为（entitled ...)《西游记》的书将会进行宣传和出版（复习一下这两个词）。

　　书的title是“标题”，人的title呢？　

　　头衔：Mr. president, Doctor Hu等等。

　　就说是，不管是书是人，title都是其“叫法”：叫什么书来着？怎么称呼那人来着？

　　In writing a letter, we begin with the title of the recipient.

　　在写信的时候（in doing：不记得的，再review一下)，我们先写下“抬头”（即收集人的头衔）。

　　读一下title与“抬头”，差不多吧。

　　同样，entile a book是给书一个名字，而entitle a person字面上是给人一个头衔，常常就成了给人权利做某事或得到什么东西。

　　OF entitled YOS to lead a school at Lasha.

　　老俞（Old Fish)授权老鞋到拉萨去开一个学校（意思就是给我一个校长的title）。

　　有道是“要权就有钱”，给头衔也意味着给东西。

　　It entilted YOS to hono, as well as money.

　　这除了使老鞋可以得到钱，还有荣誉。

create: 创造！创造！

　　Historically(从历史上讲）, 人是怎么来的始终是个issue(问题）。The evolutionary theory认为人是由猴子evolve来的，基督教则认为

　　Human beings, all other animals and plants were created by the God.

　　人，以及其它所有的动植物都由上帝创造。

　　Accordingly, they are all called creatures.

　　因此他们都被称为“creatures”。

　　上帝他老人家create这个世界之后，我们也拿create来做很多事：

　　create job opportunities 创造就业机会

　　create a plan 制定一个计划

　　create Project Hope 发起成立一个工程

　　注意：不要记什么“创造／制定／发起成立”，只需记住核心“使其存在”。

　　When it comes to China(写作句型哦），creativity has been a significant issue, for such people as YOS see the lack of creativity as a major problem, a great obstacle in the way of national revival.

　　说到中国，创造性已成为一个重要的问题，因为像老鞋这样的人将创造性的缺乏视为一个大问题，是民族复兴路上的一大障碍。

　　注意：see...as, issue与problem, great不一定是“伟大”。

　　We learn to get knowledge, so we know much; the Americans learn to be creative, or learn and keep creative, so they create many things.

　　我们学习是求知识，所以我们知道很多；美国人学习是为了有创造性，或者学习中保持了创造性，所以他们创造了很多东西。

　　degree: 程度、学位

　　To some degree, we are totally different people in terms of creativity.

　　在某种程度上，我们在创造性方面完全不是一类人。

　　To what degree have you mastered the subject?

　　你对这个学科把握到了什么程度？

　　What degree have you obtained, a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D?

　　你获得了什么学位，是学士、硕士还是博士？

　　看出来了吧：“学位”不就是学到了什么“程度”吗？

doubt：似是而非的怀疑

　　I doubt the existence of the university where he got the degree.

　　我怀疑他得学位的那个大学是否存在。

　　I suspect that he created the degree all by himself.

　　我怀疑他自己假造的学位。

I doubt that he created the degree all by himself.

　　我怀疑那种他学位造假的说法。

　　揭示一下：两个都是“怀疑”，suspect是肯定——怀疑有什么事，doubt是否定性质疑某件事。

　　这种似是而非的还有。比如refuse和deny，很多人都背成“拒绝”。

　　The college denied him the degree.

　　学院拒绝给他学位。

　　He refused the degree from the college.

　　他拒绝接受学院的学位。

　　一个是拒绝给，一个是拒绝要，慎察之。
