Dear editor,
I majored in mechanical design and manufacturing and have worked for three companies since my graduation from university. The three jobs have all been related to mechanism. Now, the most recent company is going bankrupt, and I have to change jobs again. Due to the financial crisis, there are less vacancies this year. It is hard to find a suitable job in my area these days. But it seems it’s a bit easier to enter a trade company. However, this would be abandoning my major. During this financial crisis, should I stick with the field of my major, or just make a living without being picky?
  Sam
Making a living is crucial, however, you have to be clear about what you’re heading for. I don’t know how many years you have been working. But after working for three companies in your major, I suppose you have kind of set your direction in this area. Try to stick to it, instead of randomly picking the trading sector, especially as the industry is undergoing a decline because of the financial crisis. I know it’s hard to live while unemployed, but a lifelong career is worth waiting for. How about giving yourself a deadline to find a mechanism-related job – say three months? If you cannot get a job by then, you can try other jobs as a temporary substitute.
