　　1)现行的gre考试采取的就是最原始的计分方式，即根据ets公布的分数对照表，做对多少题给多少分，平均每题10分。ets认为这样使得一道题的重要性被放大了，所以首先调整了得分的范围。每部分由原来的200~800分调整到了130~170分。正如gre全球项目负责人david g. payne在去年的ets年会上说到：”we know that some faculty saw a 20- or 30-point different on the 200-800 scale as more significant than it really was, and we hope that the new scale will make things clearer,”。
　　2)从整个新GRE考试来看，最大的变化莫过于新gre考试将采取计算机适应性考试(computer adaptive test)，即每一个section的难度都是根据考生现场答题情况来调整的。值得注意的是，现行gmat考试也是这种形式的考试，但是要求考生必须一道题接一道题完成测试，不能跳跃答题。而新gre中，在同一个section里，考生可以重新选择之前的选项(”that's going to be a real boon to test taker because once you see a question wrong, it's almost impossible to unsee it, but if you skip and come back a few questions later, it's more likely that you'll get it right,”)。
