Many countries in the world have daylight saving time. Then they have more sunlight during the summer months.

世界上很多国家都有夏令时。这样他们在夏季月份里就会有更多的光照。

In spring, people set their clocks one hour forward. This means that there is less sunlight in the morning. Then there is more sunlight in the evening. People enjoy more sunlight. Some companies save electricity. More than 75% of Americans don’t want to change the clock twice a year.

春天，人们把他们的时钟调快一小时。这就意味着早上的光照时间更少。而晚上的光照时间更多。人们就可以享受更多阳光。有些公司可以省电。超过75%的美国人不想每年调两次时钟。

Some politicians want to stop this change. The US Congress and the President must approve of the stop. It is not an easy situation. Some people like daylight saving time. Some people like standard time.

有些政客想停止这样的调钟。美国国会和总统必须批准停止才行。情况并不容易。有些人喜欢夏令时。有些人喜欢标准时间。

Notes:

1. daylight saving time：夏令时，而冬令时即“标准时间”standard time。

2. set：v. /set/ 设置，set the clock one hour forward，“把钟往前设置一小时”，也就是调快一小时；相应的，set the clock one hour backward即“把钟调慢一小时”；“定闹钟”为set the alarm clock。

3. Congress：n. /?k??ɡres/ 代表大会，首字母大写则特指“国会，议会”。

4. approve of：同意，批准，赞成。
