I think I could turn and live a while with the animals...

我想我可以和这些动物们一起住一段时间

they are so placid and self-contained,

I stand and look at them sometimes half the day long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,

Song of myself 选自于《草叶集》

是十九世纪美国作家惠特曼的浪漫主义诗集，

从1855年初版的12首

发展到1891-1892年临终版的401首，

记录着诗人一生的思想和探索历程，

也反映出他的时代和国家的面貌。

诗集得名于其中这样的一句诗：

哪里有土，哪里有水，哪里就长着草。
