Then they were going to bury her, but she still looked as if she were living, and still had her pretty red cheeks.

They said:"We could not bury her in the dark ground,"

and they had a coffin of glass made, so that she could be seen from all sides, and they laid her in it,

and wrote her name upon it in golden letters, and that she was a King's daughter.

Then they put the coffin out upon the hill, and one of them always stayed by it and watched it.

And birds came too, and wept for Snow-white; first an owl, then a raven, and last a dove.

And now Snow-white lay a long, long time in the coffin, and she did not change, but looked as if she were asleep;

for she was as white as snow, as red as blood, and her hair was as black as ebony.

It happened that a King's son came into the wood, and went to the dwarfs' house to spend the night.

有一次，一个王子来到树林里，到小矮人们的房子里过夜。

He saw the coffin on the hill, and the beautiful Snow-white within it, and read what was written upon it in golden letters.

他看到了小山上的棺材，还有棺材里美丽的白雪公主，他读了上面用金色字母写的字。

Then he said to the dwarfs:"Let me have the coffin, I will give you whatever you want for it."

然后他对小矮人们说：“把棺材给我吧，你们要多少我就给你们多少。”

But the dwarfs answered:"We will not part with it for all the gold in the world."

小矮人们回答说：“即使我们得到世界上所有的金子，我们也不会放弃它。”

Then he said: "Let me have it as a gift, for I cannot live without seeing Snow-white. I will honor and prize her as the dearest thing I have."

然后他说：“把它作为礼物送给我吧，因为我不能没有白雪公主。我将以她为荣，把她视为我最珍贵的东西。”

As he spoke in this way the good dwarfs took pity upon him, and gave him the coffin.
