The revolution "is something that happened so long ago, and it's a word that's just completely overused in Cuba," says Emily Telly, who is in her early 30s, unemployed, and living in Havana.

For Mr. de la Cruz, the writer, Mr. Díaz-Canel's invocation of revolutionary values is a smokescreen.
