Many native speakers and English learners are confused about the use of Either/Or and Neither/Not.

There's one major thing you need to remember Either always goes with Or.

And Neither always goes with Nor.

Either/Or and Neither/Nor are used as conjunctions.
Either...Or...和Neither...Not..用作连词。
Either and Or are used together to offer a choice between two things.
Either...Or...连用，表示在两者之间选一个。

Either mom or dad will pick you up.
不是妈妈就是爸爸来接你。
While, Neither and Nor are used as a negation.
然而，Neither...Not...用于否定。
Neither the blue nor the red dress is available.
蓝衣服和红衣服都没有。
Be careful of double negatives with Neither/Nor.
要小心Neither...Not...的双重否定含义。
The words themselves creat the negative.
这两个词本身就有否定含义。
Here is an example.
举一个例子。
Adam and his friend cannot swim.
亚当和他的朋友不会游泳。
So, you would say: Neither Adam nor his friend can swim.
所以，你会说:Neither Adam nor his friend can swim（亚当和他的朋友都不会游泳）。
If you say:Neither Adam nor his friend cannot swim.
如果你说，Neither Adam nor his friend cannot swim（亚当和他的朋友都会游泳），
it means both people can swim.
意思就是两个人都会游泳。

The correct answer is a: You can have either the chicken or the fish.
