金门大桥１９３３年初开始动工，１９３７年５月下旬正式通车。７５年来，这座总长２７３７米的桥梁已成为旧金山乃至美国最具知名度的地标之一，每年吸引来自世界各地游客约１０００万人次。

Exactly 75 years ago San Francisco’s most famous landmark - the Golden Gate Bridge - opened to the public. On Sunday, the city is marking the event with celebrations and fireworks. Distinguished by its unique color known as "International Orange", the nearly 3 kilometer long bridge is 27 meters wide.
Its two towers reach nearly 750 feet above sea level. The bridge is now one of the most internationally recognised and most photographed symbols of the US. It attracts some 10 million visitors each year. But decades ago, the project met lots of opposition during its four-year construction and many said the project would never be achieved.
