Hong Kong confirms new A/H1N1 flu case

Health authorities in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region say a new case of the A/H1-N1 virus has been discovered. This is Hong Kong's second confirmed case.

Authorities say the patient recently arrived on flight from the United States.

Thomas Tsang, M.D. of Center for Health Protection, said, "The patient is a 24-year-old man. He was travelling. He arrived on the evening of May 11. He consulted at the airport clinic and then was taken by an ambulance to hospital."

Of the 51 passengers who sat near the patient on the flight, 6 have remained in the region. Tsang says that health authorities there have tracked them all down and put the group under observation. People who met the 6 passengers at the airport have also been quarantined.

The Hong Kong health authorities have reminded people arriving in the region, especially overseas students, to pay more attention to personal hygiene. Those who show symptoms of the virus are suggested to go to a hospital as soon as possible.
