Nearly 750 restaurants in Beijing have joined the “clear your plate” campaign against wasting food by offering smaller dishes.
北京已有近750家饭店加入 “光盘行动”，通过提供小份菜减少食物浪费。
“Clear your plate” campaign就是“光盘行动”，to clear your plate即“把盘子里的东西都吃光”，类似的用法还有to clear the table（清理桌子），to clear the snow（清扫积雪）等。为了减少food wasting（食物浪费），国外有些餐馆还规定如果不能把盘子里的食物都吃光就需要pay extra（多付钱）。
不少饭店都开始提供半份菜（half-portioned dishes）、小份菜(smaller dishes)，以及拼盘菜（assorted dishes）以减少浪费，同时鼓励顾客将剩菜打包带走（take leftovers home）。
