Haiti president to seek PM resignation
Tensions over Haiti's political crisis are on the rise. These were the scenes in Port au Prince on Friday. U.N personnel opened fire as protesters pushed past barricades near the presidential palace. They're angry at a long-festering dispute over postponed elections and time is running out. If elections aren't held by January 12th parliament will have to shut down because there won't be enough members. President Michel Martelly on Friday said he would take the advice of a commission he set up to find a solution and seek the prime minister's resignation. The move appears to mark the end of the close alliance between Martelly and Laurent Lamothe who are friends and business partners. The dispute between the government and a group of opposition senators is over the details of proposed election law. The row has held up municipal polls for three years and a vote on a third of the senate's seats since 2012. Martelly's opponents have accused him of plotting to rule by decree and manipulate next year's presidential elections. The government says the opposition is trying to sabotage democratic rule.
Storms batter California
The California community of Camarillo Springs was one of the worst-affected by the powerful Pacific storms to hit the state on Friday. A river of mud and rock swept down hillsides stripped bare by a wildfire last year. Dozens of homes have been damaged and at least ten condemned as unsafe. Some in the neighbourhood of Azusa feared their homes were in for the same fate.
(SOUNDBITE)(English) ED HEINLEIN, HOME OWNER, SAYING: "The mud is so much closer this time. Last time it had to build up. Well now it's all been waiting and it's moving very quickly. We've got maybe 50 per cent more material to move in a short period of time. If we continue the rain as it's going we could lose the house in the next couple of hours."
The storm brought flash floods, mudslides and chaos to much of the state. The highest rainfall was at San Marcos Pass near Santa Barbara where more than 12 centimetres came down. Thousands have been left without electricity as high winds tore down power lines. One person was found dead in a flood control channel on Friday. Two other people were killed on Thursday in Oregon through falling trees.

U.S. Senate passes funding extension to avert government shutdown
Voting on the U.S. Senate floor ... to keep the federal government open and running a few more days. Congress passed an extension of federal spending authority on Saturday that lasts through midnight Wednesday. The vote means a government shutdown -- that could have been triggered by early Sunday -- won't be happening. The real budget hurdle is still ahead. Senate leaders have yet to vote on a trillion-dollar spending bill that would fund all but one government agency through September of next year. The House of Representatives has already passed the measure.

Post-90s generation faces challenges in labor market
The latest entrants into China's labor market are young people born in the 90s. However, unlike their parents, these young people have a different mindset and hence, a different way in which they approach employment.
Born in the 1990s, these young people are just stepping into the job market. Most of them are fresh graduates or have been working for just about one or two years.
Having grown up in an environment of plenty, those born in the 90s shares some common characteristics. They tend to have more of a personality and try to balance life and work.
We find young people care more about their future career than their current pay. But their expectations may fail, because their future employers may think differently.
Most recruiters tend to appreciate that young employees are more energetic and like to speak their minds. But there are certain character aspects they dislike.
“The self-perception will become clear as they change from one job to another," recruiter Lu Qian said. "But currently, many are still confused about what they really want.”
While young applicants change from one job to another, their employers are trying to make their job profiles less rigid and with more career prospects.
