These are the posters you can download from the elegant Stop Phubbing website – the online home of a campaign against digitally derived rudeness that has started to go global.

Coined by Alex Haigh, a 23-year-old Melbourne resident, phubbing stands for "phone snubbing", and describes "the act of snubbing someone in a social setting by looking at your phone instead of paying attention".

“低头症”是英语中“phone snubbing”的缩写。该词由家住墨尔本年仅23岁的Alex Haigh所创，指的是“在社交场合只顾低头玩手机，对周围人毫不理睬的行为”。

【讲解】

文中的phubbing就是“低头症”的意思。phubbing，是phone+snubbing组成的合成词，与之类似的有：Chinglish=Chinese+English（中国式英语）；sexting=sex+texting（色情短信）和manny=male+nanny（男保姆）等。

第一段中出现的Facebook、Instagram、Foursquare均是国外的知名社交网站，其中Facebook即所谓的“脸谱”网，Instagram是知名的照片分享网站，Foursquare是知名的地理位置分享网站。此外Tweet就是用户发到Twitter上的信息，而Twitter（推特）相当于中国的微博。
