Netizens call this process Internet sensationalizing.

By far, there have been a variety of successful Internet sensationalizing cases such as Lotus Sister and February Girl. While many conservative people deem it vulgar, I personally think that the sensationalizing is acceptable so long as it is not maliciously intended.

If the new big shot proves well-received by the public, they will soon be offered a role in movies or TV series.

Secondly, as Internet sensationalizing can not succeed without hot discussion of contrast opinions, participants in the discussion will have access to different ideasand become more rational. For example, in Chanel Girl’s case, she claimed that she was expelled by the university authorities because she had renouncedforeign language teaching in her blog. In response, some Netizens argue that as an individual has the right of delivering free speeches, it is ridiculous for a prestigious university to expel the student. Of course, there are Netizens who disagree with the argument. They argue that we can not believe in all what Chanel Girl said in her blog, for it would take time for the university to make the decision. As the later revealed truth indicates, the girl lied. In this sense, people will learn to figure out the truth in the Internet sensationalizing and hence become more rational.
第二，如果互联网轰动没有反对意见也是不会成功的，参与者有不同的意见，这样的意见才能更为理性。例如，在香奈儿女孩事件中，她说大学将她逐出了学校因为她放弃了在博客中教授英文。许多网友认为每个人都有表达自己意见的权利，知名大学开除学生是不可理喻的。当然，还有许多网友不同意这样的观点。他们认为我们不能够全然相信香奈儿女孩在微博中所说的事实，大学也应该在最早时间作出决定。这样的事实证明女孩说了谎。从这一方面讲，人们应该在网络轰动上认清事实，并变得更加理性。
Undoubtedly, there are some negative impacts of Internet sensationalizing. For example, those involved in the sensationalizing may be unfairly criticized. Anyway, Internet sensationalizing can be used by grass-root people to make a name overnight, if they do not have malicious intentions.
毋庸置疑，人们对网络轰动也有质疑之声。例如，参与到网络轰动的人或许会遭到不公平的批判。总而言之，网络轰动是草根阶级一夜成名的途径之一，前提是他们没有恶意。
