Berra is an all-time great player, and yet he is perhaps just as famous for his snappy one-liners, affectionately called "Yogi-isms." He creatively butchered the English language, with Yogi-isms. He had countless expressions and turns of phrase that were memorable because most of them didn’t make any sense. (At the same time, each one had some truth to it.)

"It ain't over 'til it's over."

This is easily the most famous and truest Yogi-ism of them all. This one came about in 1973.

Some of his more famous expressions include: "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore," referring to the ever-increasing cost of living, or "The future ain't what it used to be," which refers to the inevitable changes and advancements of modern society, and "I always thought that record would stand until it was broken."

Yogi-isms are now countless, and many of them are just attributed to Berra, even if he never actually said them. As he so perfectly put it: "I never said most of the things I said."

"Pair up in threes."

"I usually take a two-hour nap from 1 to 4."

"Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical."

"You should always go to other people's funerals, otherwise, they won't come to yours."
