Notes:

1.recession经济衰退。In a recession, many people lost their jobs.在经济衰退中，很多人失去了工作。The economy is starting to climb out of recession.经济正开始慢慢走出萧条。

2.in debt负债累累。If I owe you money, I'm in debt.如果我欠你钱，我就是欠债。

3.mortgage房屋抵押贷款。A mortgage is a type of a loan. Basically, it's a loan that helps you to buy a house.抵押贷款是贷款的一种，几本书就是帮助你买房的贷款。

4.loan贷款；借出。We could apply for/take out a loan to buy a car.我们可以申请贷款去买汽车。

5.broke破产的；身无分文的。go broke破产。Many small businesses went broke during the recession.经济萧条时期，许多小企业都破产了。
