count one's chickens (before they are hatched)

count one's chickens before they are hatched

count one's chickens before they are hatched这个成语多用以劝告对方不要过早乐观,过早地打如意算盘,它通常用否定形式。

例如:

It's quite possible that you will get the job, but don't count your chickens before they are hatched.

在使用中,before they are hatched可以省略。

例如:

A: I'm sure to win the prize. I'm going to buy a new car with the money.

B: Don't count your chickens.
