Hello, I'm Aaron Safir with the BBC News. President Trump has nominated the 48-year-old conservative Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the vacant seat on the US Supreme Court. Amid a growing political row over the nomination, Mr. Trump described her as one of the country's most brilliant legal minds. Appearing alongside Mr. Trump at the White House, judge Barrett said she was honored by the confidence he had placed in her. I fully understand that this is a momentous decision for a President. And if the Senate does me the honor of confirming me, I pledge to discharge the responsibilities of this job to the very best of my ability. I love the United States and I love the United States Constitution. Two Democrats have strongly objected to Donald Trump's move to appoint a new Justice before November's Pesidential election. His rival Joe Biden urged the Senate to refrain from confirming Amy Coney Barrett's appointments until after the vote. Here's our North America editor, Jon Sopel. She is a conservative jurist and it is going to take the court in a much more conservative direction. I remember that in the United States, the Supreme Court rules on all the key issues, abortion, LGBTQ rights, immigration, gun law and the election in November, if it is contested, and it's hard to see that it won't be. Donald Trump has given very equivocal answers on whether he will accept the results come November. So if he doesn't, and if there is a legal wrangle, who sorts it out, the Supreme Court.

Thousands of Israelis have protested outside the home of the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, despite a nationwide coronavirus lockdown. The Prime Minister tried earlier this week to ban demonstrations as part of lockdown restrictions, but has failed so far to win enough support in Parliament. Warren Bull reports. Dozens of convoys of protesters have made their way to Jerusalem from across Israel to express anger at Benjamin Netanyahu's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Smaller rallies have taken place in Tel Aviv and Caeserea where Mr. Netanyahu's private home is located. In a country experiencing its second national lockdown, organizers of the rallies have urged those taking part to observe social distancing guidelines. But police have issued dozens of fines. One officer suffered a head injury when he was hit by a rock after confronting a man who wasn't wearing a mask. There've been weeks of protests against Benjamin Netanyahu, with some of the anger focused on corruption allegations against him.
