In the eyes of many economists, the major emerging economies were the poster children during the financial crisis.
However, now their future is increasingly shrouded in doubt.
China and India are undergoing protracted slowdowns, while Brazil and Russia face the possibility of contractions.
So questions are being asked:Can emerging markets still lead global growth?
How can they tackle their common challenges?
And what contributions can China make?
These are exactly what attendees of this week's Beijing Forum for Emerging Markets 2015 were trying to find out.
The forum was jointly held by the Emerging Markets Institute at Beijing Normal University and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
