《精英杀手》改编自拉尔夫·费恩斯的小说《羽人》（TheFeatherMen），根据真实事件改编而成，故事讲述一批英国前特工人员被杰森·斯坦森饰演的前海豹突击队队员代领的杀手组追杀，而克里夫欧文则扮演一组前来保护英国特工的秘密部队的指挥官。老将德尼罗将出演片中的“猎手”一方。英雄暮年的德尼罗和同样暮年的帕西诺的《正义杀戮》之后证实了二人的日落西山，在《弯刀》这样的电影里也只能看见德尼罗的配角身影，但是其身后的表演功力仍然是一部动作片所不可缺少的；《非常人贩2》、《高压电》越玩越野的杰森·斯坦森在好莱坞的猛男之路日渐广阔，克里夫·欧文近期也没有太大的动作，三人的组合还是让影迷十分期待的。
