Despite boycotts, first day of voting in Egypt proceeds
埃及首日宪法公投如期进行

jjDl.u]R-r80

The doors are shut and the polls are closed. After 12 hours of voting, day one in Egypt's constitutional referendum is done. Now as election officials tie up the ballot boxes, citizens wait for the second day of voting to be held Wednesday. The referendum is expected to pass and give the army-backed government a milestone for its political roadmap. Some Egyptians boycotted the referendum though, saying the campaign for a "yes" vote was too aggressive.

This may set the stage for a presidential bid by army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who oversaw last year's overthrow of then-president Mohamed Mursi. A presidential election could follow as soon as April.

It was a night to remember. First Lady Michelle Obama dazzled the crowd in her ruby red gown as she took to the stage for the 2013 Inaugural Ball. She wore the full-length velvet gown for her first dance with the President at the Commander-in-Chief's Ball for U.S. service members. The gown is now on display in an exhibit at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. New York-based designer Jason Wu designed the custom made gown. It will remain on display through next January.
