The painter has dozed off
画画的人睡去了，
And let the great road lie here colourless –
让大路躺在无色里。
Perhaps lost in meditation,
或是它在沉思吧？
Musing upon a pair of tender, naked feet
想一双赤裸的软脚，
And a checkered parasol,
一把花格遮阳伞，
The road's face has turned all white.
它的脸都白了——。
It tears the white willow complains,
白杨哭诉：
When will the beauty reappear?
“什么时候重有美丽呢，
The wind sings my praises no more."
风不歌颂我了。”
A crow reposes on a stone wall.
乌鸦歇在石堡上，
The sky hangs so low.
天太低。
Loneliness drips from the branches.
寂寞从枝梢滴下，
I pass the lovely girl, drowsing,
我走过睡着的美人，
Waiting for a fragrant breeze.
她在等候薰风。
Someone lightly touches my elbow,
有人轻轻触我的臂肘，
Gently tugs at my sleeve –
轻轻牵我的衣袖，
A pair of timid hands.
是一双怯怯的小手；
A tiny voice seems to say,
仿佛小声说
Can't you see me?"
“不能看看她吗？……”
Whereupon I stay my steps and turn back:
于是我停脚回视：
Not a soul on the road.
大路上没有行人。
A branch of white rose, slender and fragile,
一枝瘦弱的白蔷薇
Reaches out through a low hedge,
伸出矮篱
Still trembling by itself.
犹自颤抖……
