He used to be an actor, but things didn't go quite well, I mean, the TV shows he was in were not that well-known, so after a few years, he changed his career path and became a singer, and that's when and how he became a household name all over China.
It sounds like a simple story, but actually it's not. He's been through a lot during the years when he was a nobody. He struggled for a long time, and his personal life suffered as well. His beloved wife left him, which was a terrible blow to him. And that's why his songs are always about his ex-wife, you can sense the sadness and sometimes a broken heart. I would never recommend his songs to someone who has just been through a break-up.
Anyway, what happened didn't bring him down. He's definitely not a quitter. So just to make a long story short, his singing career finally took off after his third album.
It's fair to say, his life story is really an encouraging one which has a positive influence on his fans, and also on me on a personal level. Whenever I feel frustrated or upset, I would think of him. Compared to what happened to him, my problem seems nothing.
And what I admire most about him is that he's got a heart of gold, I mean, he's extremely compassionate. He's got a great sense of responsibility and he's active in charity work.
