even up the odds

odds是「胜算，成功的可能性」，通常用在赌博或是比赛的场合。你可以说The odds are high. 来表示「胜算高」。相对的，要说胜算「低」只要将high改成low即可。even 在这当作动词使用，是「使相等」的意思，因而even up the odds则可解释为「扳回劣势」。
