Hello, this is David Austin with the BBC news. Several thousand people have marched to a police station in Myanma's biggest city, Yangon,
demanding a quick resolution to a child rape case that sparked nationwide anger. Many believe there was a slow official response to the attack on the girl who was nearly three years old at a nursery in the capital Naypyitaw in May. On Wednesday, the police charged a suspect, who had already been arrested and released. Analysts say the case underscores the lack of trust in the authorities in Myanmar.
Representatives from the Afghan Taliban and the United States are resuming peace talks in Qatar after a one-day break on Friday. Our South Asia editor Jill McGivering reports. John Sawers told the BBC that the UK's international reputation had been damaged and that current politicians and neither of the main parties seemed likely to be able to restore it. We are going through a sort of political nervous breakdown here in the UK.
