What has China done to fight climate change? During the G20 summit in Argentina, foreign minister Wang Yi met his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian and UN chief Antonio Guterres, vowing to build a low carbon society and pursue sustainable development. Last week China issued a report on these policies and actions on climate change. Officials say the country cut his carbon emissions per unit of GDP by about 46 percent last year, higher than the 40 to 45 percent goal set for 2020. Green and sustainable energy such as solar, geothermal and the wind power are greatly encouraged especially in the vast rural areas. China has the largest area of manmade forests in the world. The Saihanba Afforestation Community in Inner Mongolia won the champions of the earth award in 2017, the highest environmental owner of the UN.
