Five major candidates in the South Korean presidential race gathered for a second television debate in Seoul on Wednesday.

Moon Jae-in from the leftist Democratic Minjoo party is leading in the polls, ahead of Ahn Cheol-soo, representing the centrist People's Party.

The economy and regional tensions were dominant themes during the broadcast, with all candidates citing China and the US as key players to prevent the DPRK from conducting a further nuclear test.

The election, which usually takes place in December, will take place on May 9th after former president Park Geun-hye was removed from office.
